Our Objectives

Our Action Plan for 2026 has clear objectives:

Participation

  • Retain the County’s record increase in participation since 2021 among adults of 300% to 103,000 annually and 360% to 44,000 monthly, and among children playing weekly of 260% to 11,000
  • Diversify and expand the player base to lower socio-economic groups, disability, LGBTQ+ and women and girls programmes
  • Increase the quality and quantity of coaches operating at all levels across the County
  • Increase the number of qualified Officials at all levels

Competition

  • Grow the tennis competition base across the county
  • Increase the number of children and adults competing regularly
  • Deliver a County Closed Padel Championship

Performance

  • Fully deliver the expectations of the LTA 10U Performance Pathway
  • Provide a comprehensive training platform to maintain an inspirational Pathway from 11U to 18U
  • Provide for transition from 18U to adult County representative tennis

Governance

  • Strengthen relationship between Durham & Cleveland LTA and Clubs and venues
  • Embed sub-committees to manage and deliver County objectives
  • Maintain best practice in Safeguarding and Welfare
  • Ensure compliance of County Governance structures and procedures with LTA guidance:
  • - succession planning and needs identified by skills and diversity measuring
  • - financial sustainability

The Action Plan is prepared in collaboration with the LTA’s Head of Delivery, North & Midlands East and translates the LTA’s national mission and Durham & Cleveland LTA’s local priorities into a coordinated plan. Executive Committee members take on specific goals to help ensure we deliver on our objectives.
